Since 2012, the SPiRIT research group has been working on various projects in an interdisciplinary manner and, above all, contributing important impulses for development in the surrounding districts around Magdeburg and Stendal. As part of the h2-Science-Day, the SPiRIT team now receives the Junior Researchers Award 2020 in the category ‘Best Team Performance’.
Every year, the University of Applied Sciences Magdeburg-Stendal honors its scientists for their outstanding achievements in research and development at the university with the Researcher and several Junior Researchers Awards. The award ceremony, which regularly takes place during the h2-Science-Day, had to be realized virtually for the first time in November 2020. However, the award presentation could still take place in person in advance, under the consideration of hygiene and distance rules.
The research group received the Junior Researchers Award 2020 for its special commitment and research activities at the University of Applied Sciences Magdeburg-Stendal. The co-founder of the SPiRIT team, Prof. Dr. -Ing. Michael A. Herzog and deputy head Leonore Franz (M.A.) accepted the award on behalf of the team. Prof. Herzog emphasized that he was particularly pleased with the team award because the research group’s work ‘transcends borders and also individuals’.
For the virtual h2-Science-Day, the presentation of the prizes by Prof. Dr. Kerstin Baumgarten (Prorector of Research, Development and Transfer) were filmed in advanced.
