Michael A. Herzog is a tenured full professor of Information Systems Engineering. He serves as the Vice Dean for research at the Department of Economics and is a member of the Academic Senate at the Magdeburg-Stendal University. As Guest Faculty at the Dept. of Computer Science at Old Dominion University Norfolk, Associate Graduate Faculty, and Adjunct Professor at Ontario Tech University, he supports international Ph.D. and graduate programs. His research and teaching focus on Educational Technologies, Human-Computer Interaction, Self-adaptive Information Systems, and IT-supported Sustainability. He founded and leads the interdisciplinary SPIRIT research group and is the master’s study program’s chair in Digital Business Management in Magdeburg. Earlier in his career, he founded and led three software and media technology companies in Germany and Italy.
Michael holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems and M.Sc. in Computer Science, both from Technical University Berlin. He published 15 books and over 70 peer-reviewed research papers. As a fellow at the Alcatel-Lucent-Foundation for Communication Research, he founded and organized several Academic and Business Conferences. Michael’s research was recognized with multiple awards, including the Multimedia Award of the University of Potsdam in 2004, the University Research Award in 2018, and the Best Research Team Award 2020 of Magdeburg-Stendal University.
